About Saraswat Education Society
How It Started
In 1908, a small group of Chitrapur Saraswat-s came together in Mangalore to form an Educational Society that would further the cause of academic excellence in society at large, and the Chitrapur Saraswat Community in particular. Under the stewardship of its first Chairman, Shri Kabad Rama Rao, it began by taking over a small Sanskrit pathshala that was operating from the verandah of the Shri Umamaheshwara Temple.
Thus began the story of an iconic Institution that provided a much needed leg-up to a community that was breaking free from its rural moorings and plunging into the burgeoning urban centres of a rapidly changing socio-economic landscape that was modern India.
Over the past century, the Saraswat Education Society has grown from running a single school to establishing and managing 5 Institutions that have helped throw open a world of opportunities to thousands of young talented minds by imparting quality education.
OUR INSTITUTIONS
Today, the Society manages 2 Schools and 2 Pre-University level Colleges from its campuses in Koṭekar-Ullal and Mangalore, fulfilling the educational needs of the people of South Karnataka and North Kerala. With 1600+ students under its wing, the Saraswat Education Society is focussed on building a strong academic foundation for its wards and helping them give expression to their talent, supported by a well-integrated extra-curricular programme. Character building and personality development are a way of life here and every student who steps out of Saraswat Education Society’s Institutions looks forward to contributing to building a strong Nation that is proud of its rich cultural heritage.
